
Julia earned her MFA from the Helen Zell Writers’ Program at the University of Michigan, where her honors include a Hopwood Award (judged by Tommye Blount and Vievee Francis) and an Academy of American Poets Prize. She has also been a finalist for Palette Poetry’s Emerging Poet Prize, Narrative’s 30 Below Contest, RHINO’s Founder’s Prize, and Nimrod’s Pablo Neruda Prize for Poetry. Most recently, her work has been supported through the Zell Postgraduate Fellowship in Creative Writing and a residency at Hedgebrook. She lives in Providence, Rhode Island.
